Montreal has two official languages, French and English, and more than half of Montrealers are bilingual, while 20% of the population is trilingual. Over 100 languages are spoken here and 120 distinct ethnic communities are represented on its territory.

Surrounded by the St. Lawrence and the Thousand Island rivers, Montreal is an island with Mount Royal, a small mountain, sitting right in the centre.

Top city in North America in terms of the number of international conferences, Montreal is also home to a wide range of international organisations from various industries.

Montreal is famous for its gastronomy (2nd highest number of restaurants per capita in North America) and its vibrant music scene with major outdoor shows and festivals.
